Minimal Preparation for Natural Gold Teeth

Our crown and bridge department is known for it’s quality work, dependability and able to meet most any patients request for design.  We provide the following restorative crown services:

  1. Conventional crown and bridge preparation, we ask that the impressions to be checked thoroughly by the doctor prior to sending to us to ensure marginal integrity.
  2. When occlusion is questionable, full arch impression, models or a wax bite will be helpful.
  3. For any cutout, open face or gold accent to be inserted in an open face, please provide proper reduction of prepared tooth

Permanent gold shell crowns are for those teeth with major reduction, which if removed would cause trauma to the tooth. For a more cost effective coverage, you may want to consider moving away from the high cost of gold:

  • Do not reduce tooth as a traditional prepared tooth and allow us to make a thin coverage of gold for the tooth.
  • Provide model or impression and opposing for proper occlusion after fabricating the gold crown.
  • You may decide to remove 1/4mm off the mesial, distal, incisal and lingual or let us do the preparation and we will mark the die as a guide to indicate where to reduce on patients tooth. This not only eliminates the need for a temporary, but also reduces chairside time.

Cosmetic gold shell crowns are those that are attached to a natural tooth that has been slightly reduced to give clearance for the new gold shell crown. These crowns may be removed without major trauma to the tooth.
